Do you still dress in a suit to the office?

Do you still speak tight in a suit?

How have you presented yourself in recent years? Not in a suit anymore. The necessity of looking smart at the office has faded. This season, men are more than ever encouraged to free themselves through motorcycle influences, full denim look, western accents, cargo pants and floral prints. But this at the office?

And what does business casual stand for in 2023:

In business, the trend will focus more on the casual. Wide pants, lower waistlines, patchwork fabrics and denim-on-denim outfits. The good news is that there is a happy medium: what you wear to the office in 2023 depends on your personal preference.

What else is it:

It is a mix of formal and informal attire. To dress according to the business casual dress code, I advise you to look more professional and well-groomed. You can also be smart casual and dress more according to your personality - just not in the same way you would if you were hanging around the house on the weekends. It also means showing more of your personal style through your clothes and accessories. Then wear comfortable, but professional clothing that gives you a confident feeling to start your work with confidence. Customization is experiencing a revival, the suit without a shirt or tie, away from business constraints. The classic male image is passe! The silhouettes are narrower with slightly flared pants and flowing materials. With jeans, the shape remains baggy, while some clothing influences show angular jackets. The tie is passe! Not the costume, just in a different shape.

The trend is to be more comfortable and still look glamorous:

o Comfortable sweaters

o Patterned or non-neutral shirts

o Relaxed trousers

o Simple blazers or jackets

o Stylish closed-toe shoes, such as boots

O If you are an active personality, you do not function in clothing that has coarse fabrics and colors in the earth.

O Are you a person who thinks about everything and is spiritual, you do not fit into clothes that are lively and sexy and rustling fabrics.

O If you are willing to do anything to please others, earthy colors suit you and you work well in textured fabrics. You should not dress very creatively or alternatively.

O If your life is 'party - time' at all, then you certainly don't fit into clothing that is very refined and high class.

O If you have a photographic memory and everything must be recognizable and refined, then a sporty or creative appearance is by no means suitable and you will only become more chaotic in your work.

What not to do:

O A plunging neckline, you want the male colleagues to really look at you during the conversations and that you are not always distracted by staring.

O Very high and thin heels with clothing that is too provocative may attract attention, but a too sexy self-presentation damages the aspiring business woman.

O This woman wants to score in her job or she aspires to hold a managerial position.

O Jewelry must match the scale of your figure and your characteristics play a major role in this.

O Bags should also fit your silhouette and your color and style characteristics can determine what really suits you.

O There are actually no wrong haircuts, but there are wrong colors and a Gothic personality with jet-black hair will often feel distanced from colleagues.

O Wearing too much makeup is not recommended, it can only get on your nerves when your makeup needs to be touched up mid-day and you don't have time for it.

O What  can you do:

O What does boost confidence is a hairstyle that beautifies the face and looks well-groomed and has a color that suits your personal characteristics.

O Keep it simple and effective. You want your boss to focus on your work and your ideas, not what you thought about getting dressed.

O Wear shoes that look neat and not scuffed and dirty and damaged!

Smart and casual: the yin and yang of putting on your clothes in the morning.

The problem is, as brilliant as it is when handled properly, smart casual remains one of the most misunderstood terms in the menswear lexicon. Removing your tie alone does not make it a smart casual look. Not even by just adding a jacket to jeans. Smart casual outfits are all about balance first and foremost. Super smart with super casual is doable, but if one detail is wrong, you lose the balance that makes the outfit work. Likewise, if you only go smart and only casual, there is no tension. No individuality.

But it doesn't have to be difficult. With the right guidance and a little styling, anyone can make smart casual work. Good luck from Geraldine
